Getting Ready For Fall In My Giulia From Fibre Mood

Did I just say the F word? Is it really Fall already? Wasn’t I just flaunting around the internets with bathing suits on? Well, it’s not officially fall yet, I think we still have a few more days left. Plus, I live in South Florida, so it will be hot for some time to come. At any rate, I’ve made my first fall piece and it’s the Giulia from Fibre Mood.

Giulia Details

The Giulia dress is a perfect season transitional piece, I think. You can choose to make it shorter or you can make a maxi length. I mistakenly made the maxi length. Honestly, I prefer my dresses to be tea length, but that’s what happens when you aren’t paying attention! LOL. I just pieced together my pattern pieces and started cutting away. That led to an entirely different issue.

So, as I said, I totally wasn’t paying attention and cut the maxi length skirt instead of the shorter one. Well, then I didn’t have enough fabric for my top! To say I was upset is an understatement. I was pretty bummed out. So, back to my fabric stash I went and I ended up matching with a black fabric I had. Both of these fabrics are a poly crepe. I purchased the floral fabric from Joann last year and unfortunately, I don’t see it listed on their website anymore. The black fabric I purchased in the LA Fashion District a few summers ago.

I cut a size large for this project, but I think I could have gotten away with a medium. The pattern images showed a flowy, not fitted dress, so I didn’t want to make it form fitting. I think I’ll give it a try next time when I make the shorter version.

Here is a view of the back of my Giulia Dress. Did you see it? The back bodice of this dress has a subtle pleat in the back that I know you weren’t expecting. It gives the perfect amount of interest to an otherwise simple dress.
