Hey Guys. Today I’m back sharing with you all my amazing Frikka hoodie. This is the best sweater I’ve ever made, ever! The Frikka hoodie pattern will be part of Fibre Mood’s 8th edition pattern book. In celebration, Fibre Mood will be hosting it’s 12th Link Party and I will be there!

My Fibre Mood Frikka

You might recall that I participated in a Fibre Mood link party in the past. I made a fanny pack and sweater and you can read all about it HERE. In order to participate in the Fibre Mood link party, you must select 1 new pattern that will be released in the up coming pattern book and make it. The patterns included aren’t only sewing related. They have knitting patterns also and also include some children’s patterns as well.

Fabric and Construction

The Frikka is an over sized hoodie and is supposed to be comfy. This is why I chose this incredibly soft fabric from JOANN. I can’t find the link to it, but this is something similar.

Based on my body measurements, I chose to make a size Large. There is a lot of seam allowance included in the Frikka and I could have gone down a size. Also, for my next one, I’m going to make it shorter in length. I have a short torso and I didn’t take that into account. Right now, my Frikka fits below my behind. I would like it to come above my hips. I think that would be a good fit. I will also be adding cuffs to the sleeves next time.

Now, the only modification I made was to the waist tie. The pattern calls for the edges of the fabric be left raw. The pattern instructions say to top stitch to avoid over fraying. I didn’t really like that so I ended up folding the waist tie in half the long way and closing it up. I left a small unsewn area and turned it inside out. I like the way that turned out.

I think one of the things I like the most about the Frikka hoodie is that you can decide to loosely tie the waist tie or you can tighten it up to cinch up the waist. This gives the Frikka two different looks with 1 sweater. It’s a Win Win if you ask me.

I think the Fibre Mood patterns are so awesome. Fibre Mood is a Belgium company and the patterns are translated into different languages so that people from around the world can enjoy their patterns. A new welcome addition to their patterns is that they included the seam allowance on the pattern. YES!!!! I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do after putting together a PDF pattern is having to add the seam allowance to the pattern. I don’t have to this time and it made the entire process go a lot smoother!

Now, head on over to the Fibre Mood Link Party #12 so you can see me (again lol) and an entire slew of people from all around the world modeling their Fibre Mood Makes.

Until next time,

Johanna
