Erin Sweatshirt and Etta Bag

It’s Time To Party With Fibre Mood

Hi Guys! Guess what? I’m part of the 10th link party being hosted by Fibre Mood in celebration of their sixth edition of the Fibre Mood pattern book. I received an email a few months ago from someone sewing related. (Sorry, I honestly don’t recall who) The email contained a link to Fibre Mood for a pattern sale they were having. Well, not only did I purchase the pattern, but I also purchased the current pattern magazine. The magazine contained 26 sewing and knitting patterns. Fibre Mood is based out of Belgium and the shipping was super quick. Not only does Fibre Mood sell patterns, but they have a section dedicated to sewist and knitters from all over the world to share their makes. I love the sewing community!

Fibre Mood Link Party

As part of participating in the link party, I got to select a pattern from the up coming pattern book and I selected the Etta bag. Since this was something small, I also got to select another pattern and I choose the Erin Sweatshirt.

The Etta Bag

As soon as I saw the Etta bag, I knew I had to make it! This was a perfect upcycle project! Not sure if you’ve noticed, but, I’ve caught the upcycling bug. You can read about them HERE and HERE. I recently went to the thrift store and picked up a few things and among them was a leather vest and skirt for $10. So, if you do the math, each piece was $5 and since I only used the front of the skirt, you can say I made this fanny pack for a whopping $2.50! Who does that?! ME, that’s who!

Tips for Sewing With Leather

This was my 1st time sewing with leather so I did a little research before I got started. I used my Olfa Rotary Cutter, which I love and the leather cut like butter! I also used a teflon presser foot so that the leather would not stick and stretch while sewing. Lastly, make sure you have everything lined up properly and sew slow because you don’t really want to use a seam ripper because the leather gets punctured when you sew and then you’ll have stitch marks.

Erin Sweatshirt

The Erin Sweater is a super easy sew and I thought it would be perfect for the fall, although it’s still 80 degrees here. LOL It can be made with a quarter length sleeve or a long sleeve and features an elastic waist and sleeve or you can choose to omit the elastic all together. I chose to make a long sleeve with the elastic waist and sleeve option. I made a size large based on my body measurements. I see a few more Erin Sweatshirts in my future.

I purchased this Green Black Ethnic Arrows Ponte De Roma Knit Fabric from Girl Charlee 2 years ago during they’re Black Friday Sale. I paid $7.52 for 4 yards of this fabric! I love it. It has a nice drape and depending how you look at it, the pattern makes it look like pleats. Can you see it?

These are my 1st two Fibre Mood patterns and they definately will not be my last. The patterns come together very easily and the pattern instructions are very easy to understand. I’m so happy I found Fibre Mood. I already have my next make in mind.

Make sure you guys go check me out over at the LINK PARTY on the Fibre Mood website. I’m so excited to check out all the other makers and see all the awesomeness they made using the new Fibre Mood patterns.

Hope you guys enjoyed my Erin Sweatshirt and Etta bag. Leave me a comment letting me know what you think.

Until next time,

Jo
