When Bloggers Unite, Magic Happens!

Hi Guys! Did you know that when bloggers unite, magic happens? Well it does! Have you ever met up with an Insta friend in real life to do a collaboration and just clicked instantly? This totally happened to me over the weekend.

During the summer, I found out my aunt was having a big birthday bash for her 50th birthday in September. This was the perfect time to go back home to Boston. I was speaking with my IG friend Andrea from @andreanaturally and I was telling her I was going to be in town. We decided that we should do a collaboration since I would be in Boston. For our projects, we decided that we would pick the same fabric from JOANN and make something fabulous with it. We (Andrea really, lol) would then pick an amazing location and have a photo shoot. The end result was pure magic.

Fabric Selection

Andrea picked out this beautiful stretch knit multi floral fabric from JOANN. The fabric has a soft touch like velvet and has a nice stretch. You can find it HERE. To be honest, I would have never picked this fabric myself. I’m so happy Andrea suggested it, because I love it!

Pattern and Modifications

Since, it is now officially Fall, I wanted to make my 1st Fall me made make. (say that fast 3 times) I decided on Simplicity 8982. I picked this pattern up when it was on sale and it really is a great pattern. This pattern has great options because you can make many of your wardrobe basics with it. Originally I was going to make view C and D but I ended up making view A with modified sleeve from view C. For this pattern I made a straight size 16. I used the sleeve for view C and added 2 inches to the hem line to make the sleeve longer. For the skirt I tapered in the sides starting at the hip to give the dress and more fitted look. So, I wanted to make things a little more interesting, so I added black and white stripped ribbing trim to the collar and the arms. I think it came out really well and now I want to add it to everything. I picked it up at Hobby Lobby HERE.

Collaboration with Andrea

Listen, I’m so happy we did this. When we first met, I literally, jumped out of my car and into an instant embrace with Andrea. It was as if we had been friends for ever and we picked up where we left off. Andrea is just the sweetest girl and it was so awesome to finally meet in person.

For our shoot we went to the Larz Anderson Park in Brookline, MA and the day couldn’t have been more perfect. The weather was amazing and the company even better. We giggled like little school girls as we tried different poses to make ourselves look fashion. We helped each other channel our inner Warlene. If you don’t know who she is, then you need to run to her Instagram right now! She has become the queen of poses and you can find her @warlenerene on IG. Andrea and I also both belong to @bloggertiptuesday and last week Tabitha shared an invaluable photography tip that we used during our shoot. This is a members only page where Tabitha Sewer shares tips on growing your Instagram following and blogger and business tips on Tuesdays.

Andrea in fabric from JoANN

Andrea made a gorgeous wrap dress with her fabric and she just looks stunning. You can find all the deets on Andrea’s look on her blog HERE. Also make sure you head on over to her Instagram @andreanaturally and give her a follow. Andrea is so talented and just has the biggest heart.

So the moral of the story is, get off of Instagram and meet the people you interact with in person. This has got to be the best collab I’ve done yet because I actually met the person I got the collaborate with. Get out there and make some new friends y’all.
