Synthia Ruffle Top

My Synthia Ruffled Top| A Designer Stitch Pattern

Hi Guys!  Today I want to share with you my Synthia Ruffled Top by Designer Stitch.  As usual, when Ann put the call out for pattern testers, I couldn’t raise my virtual hand up high enough.  I mean, RUFFLES!  Who doesn’t love ruffles?  Then Ann announced the possibility of being featured in The Pattern Pages digital sewing magazine.  Who says no to the possibility of being featured in a magazine?  Not me.

Synthia Ruffle Top

The Synthia Ruffle Top is just so pretty and delicate with the way that the ruffles lay just right.  I decided to make a muslin first before cutting into my fashion fabric because the Synthia comes with the option of different cup sizes to customize to a perfect fit.  I ended up making a size 6 B cup and graded the pattern to a size 8 to accommodate my hips.  The pattern includes instructions on how to measure yourself to get the perfect cup size measurement.

The fabric suggests you use any light weight draping non stretch fabric.  The examples included, but not limited to are:

  • Satin Back Crepe or Crepe types
  • Silk and Silk Types
  • Faille and Faille types
  • Chirimen and Chirimen types.

I made my top using this amazing chambray cotton shirting in a denim color. While at the Mimi G Style Fashion and Sewing Conference last summer we were treated to cupcakes and champagne at The Fabric Store.  They have an amazing assortment of gorgeous fabrics and I couldn’t leave without purchasing anything.  I was drawn to this beautiful chambray and couldn’t leave the store without it.  I’m so happy I had it in my stash because it was perfect for my Synthia.

The Synthia also comes with two different length options and I chose to make the shorter version.  I think the way that the ruffle is attached to the bodice is genius and allows for the ruffle to hang and float around the body.

The Pattern Pages

Look who made the magazine! ME!  I’m so excited to be in such great company.  The ladies in the Designer Stitch testing group on Facebook are amazing.  They are all very nice and are always willing to help each other out whenever someone might have a question on how to do something or to simply offer some advice on your fabric choice.  Ann makes herself available to will help you make her vision come to life.

The Synthia Ruffle Top was just released and can now be purchased HERE.  Grab yourself this pattern while it’s on sale for a limited time. You won’t regret it.  This is probably my favorite Designer Stitch pattern and I can’t wait to make more Synthia Ruffle Tops.

Do you like ruffle tops?  What do you think of my Synthia?  Let me know in the comments.
