My Anitra Jumpsuit from Style Sew Me

Hello!  Happy 4th Of July!  I hope you got to enjoy the day celebrating America with your family and friends.  Today I am bringing you my version of the Anitra Jumpsuit from Style Sew Me Patterns.  I’ve been following this sew sister for years now and have learned so much from her.  Her YouTube channel is the bomb.com.  To this day I use her zipper install, gathering with cooking twine method and her box pleated skirt tutorials.  You can find her YouTube channel here.  You’re welcome.  Now on to my fly Anitra jumpsuit!

When I first saw this jumpsuit I just fell in love.  I’ve been wanting to get in on the drop crotch action for a while now and this pattern fit the bill.  I was so excited to order this pattern.  I decided to order the printed version because I’m not a big fan of taping PDF patterns together.  The pattern arrived quickly after ordering and it came with awesome instructions on how to construct the jumpsuit.  BUT, what’s even better is that there is a sew along video too!  This video saved my life.  I’m a very visual learner so after I watched the video, it all made perfect sense to me.

OK, I have a confession to make.  Sew, I was SO excited to get going that I cut out my pattern pieces.  Based on my measurements, I decided that I was going to make a large.  In an effort to preserve my pattern, I traced out a large bodice and cut out a large bottom.  I eagerly started sewing, only half-assedly reading the instructions.  I try to challenge myself and do it without watching the video if there is one.  Well, that only works if you really READ the instructions properly.  I attached my pockets to the first piece just fine.  Then came time to attach the pockets to the back.  I found it odd that there were no notches to this piece but I kept on going.  Then came time to attach the front to the back.  I was missing a pattern piece entirely!  I thought, WTH?  I was really ready to email Eryn at this point.  (It’s the QA Analyst in me)  Well, after looking in my cutting space (my living room)  I found the missing pattern piece (AKA the front piece) in between my sofas. Long story short, I had to start all over with a different piece of fabric because I had no more of the original fabric I started with.  At any rate, I finished my jumpsuit and I am in love!  I found this soft two way stretch knit fabric at Walmart for $1 a yard!  So glad I purchased 10 yards of it because I love the feel of it.

I decided to go casual with my jumpsuit and paired it with my sneakers.  You can totally dress it up as well with a cute pair of heels or sandals.

I love the oversized bodice.  You can wear it with a little shoulder action if you like.   I also love the drape of the pants.  I think the gathering give it that flowy feel.   I made the headband I’m wearing using some of my fabric scraps. I do plan on thanking this one again real soon.  You can pick up your very own Anitra pattern HERE.
